How we test devices.

We want to understand what a device helps you do, how it feels and what gets in the way.

Five questions guide our testing.

  1. What changes when someone uses the device?

We’ll look at walking, hills, stairs and everyday tasks where safe and relevant.

  2. How hard is the body working?

We’ll record how hard the activity feels, tiredness and relevant measurements such as heart rate.

  3. How does it feel to wear?

We’ll check adjustment, comfort and whether the device gets in the way of movement.

  4. What is it like to own?

We’ll look at setup, controls, carrying, charging and day-to-day care.

  5. Where could it be useful?

We’ll explain where it may help, what limits its use and what we still don’t know.

Our testing program is in development. Each device page shows whether we’ve tested that product.

What you’ll get from us.

Each evaluation will explain what we tried, what we noticed and what we measured, including what didn’t work well.

We’ll keep our findings separate from manufacturer claims and explain the limits of each test.
